David C. Burkhardt, CPA
Tax Manager

With over twenty years of income tax planning and preparation, accounting, and non-profit experience. David brings extensive practical knowledge to our new and/or small business clients who are within the first five years of operation.  Dave has been with Hendershot-Burkhardt Tax Services over 18 years. He has a business degree from Virginia Tech with a major in accounting.  Prior to joining the firm, he worked as an accountant with Strayer University.  He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the National Association of Tax Professionals.  David has been a resident of Manassas for over twenty years.

Serena Hendershot, COO
Chief Operating Officer

Serena Hendershot has been with the firm over seven years. She has over seven years of experience as a paralegal and previously was employed by CSC/Federal Sector. In her capacity she was an efficiency specialist, reviewed contracts, and was an executive assistance to the director of a Federal program. Serena received her Bachelors of Business Administration from Strayer University. She completed Leadership Prince William in 2013. Serena was on the Ambassador Committee for Prince William of Chamber of Commerce. She served on the board of Trustees for CASA, (Court Appointed Special Advocates). She is a member of the National Association of Tax Preparers.

Doris Walters
Office Manager

Doris is a graduate of NOVA with a degree in Legal Assisting. She has been with the firm for over five years.  Doris brings over 30 years of client service to our firm. Doris’ rich and diversified background in office management is critical to our meeting our clients’ needs. She understands the concerns of our clients and paves the way to minimizing the stress associated with tax season.  Doris’ outstanding ability to juggle numerous facets in managing our firm enhances the services we provide.
